Federal Funding to Depend on Accurate 2010 Census

In April 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau will conduct its survey to record the population of America. This particular census will be extremely important to the Maine Township community, as we receive State and Federal funds based on our population. If the census count comes up short, the Township will not get its full share of the funds it is due. These funds benefit local schools, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, housing and more. The census will also determine new State and Federal legislative boundaries.

The 2010 census promises to be far more concise than the previous survey in 2000. There are only 10 questions and the Township will not receive information on any of the responses to the more confidential questions. Also, the census offers an opportunity for employment.
