Maine Township Citizen Corps Council Offers CERT Training

The Maine Township Citizen Corps Council is offering a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Training on March 12 and 19, 2011. The classes will be held at the North Maine Fire Protection District at 9301 Potter Road in Des Plaines. Classes will start at 8 AM and run all day each time.

The CERT Program teaches individuals how to take care of themselves, their families, their neighbor and their community following a disaster and until professional assistance can arrive. This successful program has graduated over 350 persons since it started.

Classes are "hands-on" and taught by seasoned professionals. There is no cost to attend these classes and upon graduation, participants are given a start-up emergency kit for their personal use.

The class is open to those 16 and older. Those between 16 and 18 must be part of a youth group with a leader present or accompanied by an adult.

Space is limited, but there are still some openings. Please contact Robert Cohen at if you wish to attend.
