The event is organized by the MaineStay Youth & Family Services Department of Maine Township and sponsored by Chicago Behavioral Hospital, Journal & Topics Newspapers, Senior News 50 and Better, Surburban Resource Guide for Seniors, Republic Services, Village Bank and Trust, International Bank of Chicago, Summit of Uptown, Parkway Bank, American Classic Tours, Inc., Liberty Bank for Savings, Bil-Mac Express, Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri, State Representative Michael McAuliffe, North Shore Motor Works, and Costco.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Adventure Maine Township Summer Camp and the Township's Emergency Food Pantry. The camp program, coordinated by the Township's MaineStay division, gives at-risk youth, ages 8 through 13, the opportunity to participate in cultural and recreational experiences to which they may not otherwise have access. The food pantry, a service of the General Assistance department, serves an average of over 200 families per month throughout the year and even more during holiday periods, but the demand never ends.

"This annual event is not only fun, but also raises money for two worthy causes," says Township Supervisor Carol A. Teschky. "We encourage our Township residents to participate, to give financial support, or just come by to shop."
