Maine Township Supports National Night Out Against Crime
All residents are invited to attend the National Night Out Against Crime which has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 2, beginning at 6 PM at Dee Park, 9229 Emerson, in unincorporated Maine Township. The National Night Out event promotes crime prevention, police-community partnerships and neighborhood unity.
Sponsored by Maine Township, Neighborhood Watch, Cook County Sheriff's Police, Golf Maine Park District, North Maine Fire Department, and other community businesses, the event will include performances by local talent, games, prizes, raffles, a guest speaker, and a poster contest with the theme "U-Knight Against Crime."
All children of Maine Township who are under 14 years of age are invited to participate in the poster contest. The deadline for entries is July 17. You can download an entry form and they are also available at the Maine Township Town Hall. Prizes include savings bonds and other items.
The Cook County Sheriff's Police, North Maine Fire Department, Maine Township, the Office of Emergency Management will all do demonstrations. The night will conclude with a flashlight walk through the neighborhood led by the Sheriff's Police.
