Maine Township Names New Highway Commissioner
August 2, 2016 — Walter Kazmierczak is the new Highway Commissioner for Maine Township. He was appointed August 1 by unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees. He replaces Robert Provenzano who resigned the position after over 18 years of service in order to retire. The position is fulltime.
Previously, Kazmierczak was a Township Trustee since 2001. He was also the Manager of Community Relations with the Illinois Council of Banks and Real Estate. Kazmierczak graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in political science. His particular areas of interest as a member of the Township Board included senior services, allocation of social agency grant money and governmental ethics. He has volunteered for many community and township events including Senior Bingo at The Taste of Park Ridge, Park Ridge Electronics Recycling Day and served as a judge for the annual Senior Spelling Bee, a statewide competition.
In 2014, Kazmierczak assumed the duties of being the liaison between The Neighborhood Watch Group, The Cook County Sheriff's Department, and the Maine Township elected officials, helping bring important issues such as local crime prevention for discussion with residents.
He is a Board Member for the Township Officials of Cook County (TOCC) and has held offices in TOCC’s Trustee Division including terms as President, Treasurer and currently as its Secretary.
