Maine Township Clerk Announces Passport Day Event

Gary K. Warner, Clerk of Maine Township, is hosting a special passport event at Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Rd., Park Ridge on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 10 AM until 3 PM. The Clerk's office will provide passport information to U.S. citizens and accept passport applications.

"We are pleased that Maine Township is joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2011, a national passport acceptance and outreach event," Warner said.

U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.

Information on the cost and how to apply for a U.S. passport is also available at www.travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.

The Clerk's office, which is normally open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, will be open on Saturdays in June from 9 AM to noon to provide extended hours for purchasing Cook County vehicle stickers which must be displayed by July 1. In addition to passport services, the office also issues ARC Disposal refuse and yard waste stickers, hunting and fishing licenses, temporary handicapped parking cards, senior transportation discounts, free Notary services, Illinois State maps, voter registration, and Maine Township maps.
