CROP Walk Leader Recognized for Helping Feed Hungry People

Lynda Santrella at Maine Township Board Meeting October 27, 2010 — Lynda Santrella helps organize and lead a group of community-minded volunteers from about a dozen churches for the Annual Niles-Park Ridge CROP Walk which raises money to support the Maine Township's Emergency Food Pantry and other pantries.

In recognition of her efforts, the Township Board presented her with a Proclamation at its Oct. 26 meeting. Here, l to r, in the front row are Trustee Peter Gialamas, General Assistance Director Marsha Warnick, Trustee Susan Moylan Krey, Santrella, Supervisor Carol Teschky, and Collector Mary Rohde. In the back row, l to r, are Trustee Walter Kazmierczak, Clerk Gary K. Warner, and Highway Commissioner Robert Provenzano.

The Niles-Park Ridge CROP Walk has donated funds since 1991. The township's food pantry has received over $70,000 over the years. Since it does not receive any public funds it depends on donations of food and money from organizations and individuals.
