MaineStay Youth and Family Services Conducts Community Survey

April 26, 2013 — Maine Township's MaineStay Youth and Family Services department is conducting a brief online survey to help evaluate its programs and to obtain a better understanding of the current needs of township residents. Everyone who completes the survey can enter to win a $100, $50, or $25 gift card. The MaineStay Community Survey is available in English and Spanish at www.mainetownship.com/survey.

Anyone can take the survey even if they are not familiar with MaineStay's services. Responses will be used to help determine priorities for future programs. The survey will be available until June 15, 2013 and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Paper copies of the survey are available at Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Rd., Park Ridge.

MaineStay hopes this survey, part of a larger strategic planning effort, will enable staff to obtain an accurate picture of the department's strengths as well as what changes are needed in order to better serve the surrounding community. In February, 2013, MaineStay hosted a series of focus groups and had over 60 community members, representatives from local organizations, and school employees participate. The feedback received generated many ideas which are being further evaluated by the public through this survey.

"By accurately identifying resident needs, we will be better equipped to provide the most appropriate and cost-effective services we can," said Carol A. Teschky, Township Supervisor. "Many of our residents using MaineStay's services are unable to afford similar services elsewhere."

MaineStay has provided affordable, strength-based counseling and services for families and at-risk youth in Maine Township since 1975. Their programs include youth mentoring, therapeutic groups, community education seminars, parenting classes, restorative justice initiatives, and a host of other services designed to nurture healthy families and communities.
